This is in reply to Jesus’ comment (2/10/2010, 1:45am).

Jesus, and all who are truly interested, I would invite you to check out this book link: http://books.google.com/books?id=0YGvVaIN2cEC&printsec=frontcover&dq=jack+nelson-pallmeyer&source=bll&ots=1Ilpsyu68Q&sig=VvJbuY3v1pID6vy4qDFqHS7irmM&hl=en&ei=_CNyS9aVBtXZnAeny_2UCw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=13&ved=0CDQQ6AEwDA#v=onepage&q=&f=false .

The book “Jesus Christ on Christianity”, by Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer, is quite an interesting, and reflective.

Chapter 3, “Can this really be God? Part 1″, caught my eye. As I was reading through the chapter, I came across an excerpt from a speech, given in 1898, by U.S.Senator Albert J. Beveridge (pp.28) of Indiana. Kind of an eyeopener, in that it could have been said today by any one of the mouth pieces on the Hill. Do check this out, specifically, and browse through the rest of the book, if you will….

Mike is almost the only guy who will touch the subject of the crazy religious cult that is devouring this country and calling itself Christianity.

I knew exactly what he was talking about the time when people did not discuss religion, and considered it personal. Is there anywhere left in this country where that is true any more? It’s driving me nuts. I moved to Texas after being first a military brat and then an expat for years, and when we moved here I was stunned that the first thing everyone asks you is what church you attend. If you don’t give the “correct” answer, the looks on their faces is downright scary. I had to change hairdressers because she was preaching at me the entire time I was in her chair.
I think I am going to start saying I’m a Satanist just to watch their heads explode.

Other responses that would get them in a lather would be:
    Wicken (Wicca), atheist, or agnostic.
