That guy who called found the book that changed his life. What was it called? “Ordinary Men” ?
Yea, I’ve got a lot of examples of books that changed my life. Maybe it was “The Political Spectrum” one of the amazing “Opposing Viewpoints series” put out by Greenhaven Press. Publisher David L. Bender wrote one of my favorite quotes:
“It can be said that those who do not completely understand their adversary’s point of view do NOT fully understand their own”
Yea, that made sense. So I went out of my way to find out everything I could against all my adversaries. That guy on the job site I can’t stand, my neighbors who don’t pick up their dogs shit and the Republican Party. I figured if I was going to start a fight I might as well be PREPARED, right?
So I bought a copy of the obscure masterpiece “Ominous Politics, The Conservative Labyrinth” by John S. Saloma III. An almost prophetic warning to Democrats and Liberals to fight back against Conservative scheming. But all you stuck in the chi chi 60’s m#*~/ers were too busy to notice Saloma died mysteriously not long after he completed his manuscript in 1983.
This book is the single greatest assessment of the corrupt Empire Conservative and Republicans built to get dumbass Americans to vote against their own best interests. THIS IS THE BOOK TO READ IF A PROGRESSIVE, LIBERAL OR DEMOCRAT WANTS TO KNOW THE ENEMY!
I mean if someone was maybe thinking about getting JUSTICE or DEMANDING ACCOUNTABILITY or f***ing up those silver spoon aristocrats who sold out the American PEOPLE… lol

Yes, SPO101, the book was called Ordinary Men.
I’m glad John Saloma 3rd was able to get the book published before his death. But the powers he criticized will keep it out of print. Even with e-books that are simply a digital file that passes on the cost of printing from publisher with a greater ability to pay to the reader with less ability to pay in the form of e-book readers like the Kindle, Sony Reader or Barnes and Noble Nook or Ipod touch, Iphone or Ipad or other tablet computer.
I know of one other author of a book that challenges ‘conventional wisdom’ who died shortly after publishing his book. Simha Flapan died in 1987 shortly after publishing The Birth of Israel Myths and Realities. Last time I saw it in print was 1991. I found a copy in a library and photocopied several chapters. Israel academic and cultural lobbies like standwithus.com and campuswatch.org pressure publishers to keep it out of print like standwithus’ suppression attempt of Joel Kovel’s Overcoming Zionism that ended up being published. But Bard College didn’t renew his contract, effectively economically executing him.
