Top Hats and Tailspins

So far today, the news cycle has been dominated by two stories – the new ”Top Hat 10″ creation by BP to (finally) stop the gushing geyser of death in the Gulf; and the consequences of the worsening economy on the Obama administration.

And why are the Senate Republicans who sit on the Judiciary Committee delaying the full vote on Elena Kagan’s nomination to the Supreme Court?  Are they just stalling the inevitable, or waiting for some bombshell to emerge?

We’ll discuss these stories, plus the future of “Don’t Ask – Don’t Tell,” the crisis in Uganda, and the Republican hypocrisy on unemployment benefits.  Don’t miss a minute of the flying-monkey-free fun and frivolity!  Call 877-996-2556!

It’s actually three stories, Mike. The big story today was Steinbrenner’s indictment for illegally supporting Nixon.
    George Steinbrenner: A Kennedy Democrat?
The late Yankees owner preferred Dems in Congress but the GOP for the White House. And he hated being tied to Nixon ….politicians in New York and Florida (where Steinbrenner lived) received a disproportionate share of his largess. In the past decade, Steinbrenner gave $6,300 to Sen. Charles Schumer and $9,600 to Rep. Charles Rangel. He also donated $2,300 to Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. Florida Sen. Bill Nelson was another of his favorites, to judge from his giving….He supported George H.W. Bush in the 1988 and 1992 campaigns and during the 2000 Florida recount, he gave $5,000 to the Bush-Cheney recount fund. (George W. Bush, of course, had been a Texas Rangers co-owner.) Steinbrenner also gave $7,500 to Rudy Giuliani’s PAC in the middle part of last decade and another $4,600 to Rudy’s 2008 White House campaign ($2,300 of which was later refunded after Rudy dropped out). And in the fall of 2008, he cut a check for $15,000 to McCain Victory 2008.

due to the complete irresponsibility and incompetence of the Dem leadership in the big whorehouse, steinbrenner’s estate will pay no estate tax.

    hapless harry reid strikes again.

    @ Fruit

I just read the memo and Faux “news” had to put in their two cents worth. They talk about “indecency” when their entire fucking network is indecent!

    Mike hi!
Listening to you talking, again, about the Repugnants taking over and the people rising up and putting this country back together…Well…
A few questions come to mind.
Will we as a nation so divided and misinformed be able to unite in clarity and resolve?
Will this not lead to total anarchy followed by absolute governmental suppression?
Anybody got the wealth and security to ride it out (sit home and watch it on TV)?
Do any of us even have enough time to “get involved”?

    So much for wishful flashbacks.
Yeah Mike, We’re all going down but I’ll go out shouting truth to power.

    From my Cold Dead Brain,
    Regards, Denny NNWofLA

Why are these freaks soooo fascinated w/what others do with their genitalia? There is a section, in ‘FUBAR’: America’s right-wing nightmare by, Sam Seder, which addresses this very question. The bottom line is ENVY.
