Good Germans

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) was a prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps.

Are we the good Germans now?  Ignoring the warnings around us that fascism is creeping thru our windows, ripping away everything our nation used to stand for.  Watching and hearing what is happening to these poor children on the border is a horror we haven’t entertained since the national shame of the Japanese interment camps.

There is a little outrage, but most members of Congress are silent.  And polled Republicans favor this policy by 20 points.  If that doesn’t give you the shivers nothing will.

Case in point, tonight Laura Ingram on Fox “news” pulled a hurricane Katrina quote out of her ass and actually said these kids were better off in cages then they were before, and that it was like going “to camp.”  Yeah, a concentration camp.  Listen to this audio released today from Propublica and ask yourself, do these kids sound like happy campers?

There is no Biblical law that advocates child torture, no matter what Jeff Sessions or Sarah Huckabee say.  These are crimes against humanity.  Talk about a special place in hell…’s not reserved for Justin Trudeau, trust me.

2,000 children have been locked in cages in the last 6 weeks.  20,000 are expected by August.  There aren’t enough social workers in these centers to take care of these kids.  The HHS secretary Kirstjen Nielsen flip flopped all over the podium today, stating first that children weren’t being separated from their parents, then later explaining why the separation was necessary.

All the former First Ladies came out today with statements condemning this inhumane treatment of children.  Even Melania.   Do you ever remember a time when this happened before? When all the living First Ladies spoke out against the current president’s policies?

That should tell you something.

Thank you, Kathy, for this timely warning. Yesterday I was prompted by former Ohio State Senator Nina Turner from Our Revolution to call all my representatives in Congress about Trump’s latest human rights violation. I remain shocked and ashamed that I live in a country where I had to do this. Trump is reshaping the country in his corrupt image.

Under the fascist rule of Donald J. Trump we have pulled out of the Paris climate agreement, the Iran nuclear deal and now we are abandoning the United Nations Human Rights Council (irony noted).

Now we are free! Free to take children from their parents and lock them up in his child concentration camps. Yes, we are outraged, we are ashamed. We grieve at the horror, yet we allow it.

    Some questions still go unanswered:
We see neat clean orderly-looking dining and sleeping facilities and we see chain-link cages. We see boys but no girls. Where are they?
Who are those running these ‘camps’?
    What are their qualifications?
How much (in dollars, not soul) is this program costing?
Are these privatized (for profit) industrialized prisons?
And now, naturalized citizens are being scrutinized for any possible reason for deportation.

    So- where does this end?
    And when?
    And how?

They are now calling the proposed new small children’s internment camp,  “Baby Jail”.   That our country has come to this.  It is horrible.  This is some kind of nightmare.   Amy Goodman did extensive coverage of this on her Tuesday Show today.   So shocking.   I can hardly wrap my head around it all!

sure wish you could keep your volume turned higher, and not go from higher to lower each night. same with it over on progressivevoices & netrootsradio too. one night its perfect and I can actually turn it down on my lame laptop that doesn’t really have much volume at all, then the next its so low it is maddening.

Gregg, if you have video, you’ll see Mike needs to keep his face close to the microphone for the volume to be sharp and clear. If he turns away for some reason while talking, that’s when his voice trails off. Bob Kincaid does the same now and then on his program. And, yes, Mike has to remind Kathy to turn on her mic. There’s always room for improvement in any sphere. Meanwhile, the overall quality of these programs more than makes up for these flaws, in my humble opinion.

” I really don’t care, do u?” was the message on First Swine, Melania’s jacket today as she ‘toured’ a child detention facility. Or… in plain Nazi speak, “Es ist mir egal” (I don’t care). Talk about lipstick on a pig!

What? Kathy, turn on your mic!

Cannoli, ty for the tip about Mike’s volume, but some nights are harder to hear than others and I have to set my laptop close to my ear. on the good nights I can sit away from it on top of the table and it is way better those times I can actually turn it down a bit! lol

Don’t mean to complain, just maddening when it fluctuates from night to night. 🙁
