Do we really need another rapist on the Supreme Court? Okay okay, would-be rapist? Violent sexual predator? Sexual harasser?
“He covered her mouth so she couldn’t scream . . . ”
The victim was Christine Blasey, age 15, assaulted by a 17-year-old Brett Kavanaugh at a high school pool party. She thought he might accidentally kill her, he was choking her and he was so very drunk. Fortunately, another boy, Brett’s underage drinking buddy Mark, jumped on the pair and broke up the assault. Ford’s attorney, Debra Katz, told the Today show: “She believes that if it were not for the severe intoxication of Brett Kavanaugh, she would have been raped.
Today Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, 51, is a professor, research psychologist, and biostatistician. She studied and taught at Stanford University. Pepperdine too – just like Condi. But she had an extra obstacle to overcome.
She has suffered from PTSD and sought therapy as a result of this attack, which is corroborated by her therapist. She never wanted to revisit this incident, but could not sit by and watch her assaulter appointed to the Supreme Court. She wrote Senator Feinstien when Kavanaugh’s name came up in July because she could not imagine this violent drunk abuser on the Supreme Court. Then she hired an attorney and took a lie detector test to make sure her concerns were taken seriously and very reluctantly came forward publicly when there was no other way to pump the brakes on his whirlwind confirmation hearing.
The angry white male Senators called a hearing for next Monday, knowing that there is no time for any investigation by the FBI or any other entity. Just the way they like it.
And the drunken buddy – the witness to the attack? Mark Judge is a now conservative author and has written a book about the alcohol-sodden culture of debauchery at their prep school. The drunk driving, the blackouts. Nice that he provided that written record. Too bad Trump Inc. has zero vetting skills. Also unfortunate that Mark Judge refuses to testify in front of the Senate. He claims he has no memory of events as Dr. Ford described. Careful word choice there.
Hmmm….sounds like a question for the FBI. Will the Senate Republicans allow it? So far the magic 8 ball says . . . . unlikely Speaking through her attorney Dr. Ford stated her willingness to cooperate with any Senate proceedings and would testify following the appropriate FBI investigation. Senator Feinstein issued a follow-up statement calling for such an investigation.
What do you suppose, Truthseekers, are the chances either the White House or the Senate request the FBI reopen a probe into Bret Kavanaugh’s past? </crickets>
Believe her or not, do not let the 36 year time span fool you. That is creepy misogynistic Foxspin. Trauma is traumatic when it happens. And it’s still traumatic 3, 8, 26, and 50 years later. Ask a Vietnam vet. Or Iraq War. And so on.
The attacks began immediately. Orrin Hatch gave this multi-credentialed PhD the Anita “little bit nutty, little bit slutty” Hill treatment, declaring her “mixed up,” despite having never met her. Lindsay Graham cast his doubts. Oddly, The Donald was uncharacteristically restrained, even suggesting that a Kavanaugh fail wouldn’t be the end of the world.
I wonder if his secret anonymous handlers are slipping him barbiturates.
But the rabid right wingers answered the whistle and sprang like hell hounds to fulfill her worst nightmare: hacking her email, impersonating her identity, threatening her life and the lives of her family members and friends. She and her family are now in hiding.
Let that soak in. She is being attacked by more angry white men. This is exactly why women don’t always come forward immediately, or at all. Once is enough.
